The City
Tokyo is one of the most beautiful and quintessential modern metropolitan in the World. Tokyo is a piece of land having huge skyscrapers, neon nightlife and be the world loved economic centre. Tokyo is capital city of Japan since 1869. Tokyo was named as Edo formerly, after Emperor Meiji renamed it as Tokyo and made it his capital city. Tokyo has given shelter to around 40 million people, in which half of the population lives in urban area. It is considered as a “metropolitan prefecture” and has economy of USD 2.5 trillion. It is one of the most liveable cities in the world and the economic centre of Japan.
It lies to the shore of Tokyo Bay having Chiba at the east, in west Yamanashi, having Saitama in the north and Kanagawa in the south. Tokyo’s land area covers 90 km from west to east and 25 km from north to south. It is at the “Ring of fire”. It has around 23 special wards and 26 cities in itself. It has a beautiful cityscape view from above. It has two buildings; Tokyo tower and Tokyo Skytree, which is the tallest tower in Japan and the World and second tallest structure in the world after Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
Global Economic Power Index and Global Cities Index ranked Tokyo first and third respectively in their indexes. According to Economist Intelligence Unit and Mercer consulting firm, Tokyo was ranked in 11th for being expensive in 2015. In 2018, Tokyo was ranked 2nd to be a university student by QS Best Student Cities. Tokyo being host for 1964 Summer Olympics and will host 2020 Summer Olympics.
Tokyo being the most populous city in Japan has the best living standard also. It has many museums showing the history and culture of Japan. Anyone from around the globe can reach Tokyo through Narita International Airport in Chiba prefecture as it is forbidden to fly over Tokyo and can be reached through Tokyo Bay.
